Progress Update: We're Almost There!

Hello, stink-tastic SKUNK'D backers and followers!

We’re thrilled to share some exciting updates on our progress in producing SKUNK'D. Thanks to your incredible support and enthusiasm, we’re closer than ever to bringing this game to your tabletop.

First, we are delighted to announce that we’ve received a shipment of 6000 skunk-themed rule cards, featuring wonderful card art by our talented artist Paula Rubeiro.

SKUNK-THEMED CARDS WITH ORIGINAL ART

Paula has truly captured the playful spirit of SKUNK'D, and we can’t wait for you to see these beautifully illustrated cards in action.

Additionally, we’ve received all the boxes for our Founder's edition games. They look fantastic and are ready to house the components of SKUNK'D.

SKUNK'D Founders Edition Box

OMG!

Ken is a little overwhelmed at the idea of assembling 100 boxes, not to mention sorting 3000 dice and 6000 cards.

Right now, the only piece we’re waiting on is the rule book. Once the rule books arrive, we’ll be ready to assemble and package 500 games. We’re confident that this final step won’t take too long, and we’re working diligently to ensure everything is perfect.

We’re on track to start shipping by August 1st, if not sooner.

Our team is excited to get SKUNK'D into your hands and see how much fun you’ll have with it. We appreciate your patience and continued support as we finalize these last details.

SIMON SAYS…

Getting on the Board for the First Time

Simon Armstrong, our VP of Science & Mathematics, delves into the Strategy and Probabilities behind the stink-tilating game of SKUNK'D

Reader's Question: Simon, what is the best strategy for getting on the board the first time?

Simon Says: Hello SKUNK'D fans! It's Simon Armstrong here with another round of game strategy insights. This month, we have an important update and some fresh advice on getting your score on the board for the first time in SKUNK'D.

The first time you score in SKUNK'D is a crucial moment, and our team has recently made an important change to the rules that you need to know about. Previously, you needed to accumulate at least 500 points in your den before you could put your score on the board. However, after some detailed statistical analysis, I realized it was much too easy to reach 500 points in a turn. Alternatively, the likelihood of scoring at least 1000 points in a turn is about 60%, while the likelihood of filling your den with six scoring dice is a little better than 55%. We want you to be challenged right from the start and think about how to best to get on the board. Therefore, we’ve updated the rule:

RULE: To get on the board for the first time, you must fill your den once with six scoring dice.

Once you achieve this, you can put any score on the board in subsequent turns without needing to fill your den again.

So, what’s the best strategy under this new rule? Here are my top tips:

  1. Prioritize Scoring Dice: Focus on accumulating scoring dice rather than just high points. Look for combinations that will fill your den quickly, even if they don’t always offer the highest immediate points.

  2. Play It Safe Early On: Avoid taking too much risk until you’ve safely gotten on the board. Once you’ve filled your den (and rolled once more without getting Super SKUNK’D!) skunking in a subsequent roll means you’ll have to start all over again next turn.

  3. Rule Cards: Recognize that the Rule Cards aren’t going to help you get on the board unless the Mulligan or the Six, Two, & Even card is in play.

  4. Watch Your Opponents: Keep an eye on how other players are doing getting on the board. If others fill their dens and quickly post big scores, this may influence your strategy on playing conservatively vs. taking more risk.

  5. Be Flexible: Sometimes, the dice won’t roll your way. Be prepared to adapt your strategy based on what the game gives you.

By focusing on these strategies, you'll be well on your way to mastering the new rule and getting on the board.

**Reminder for Parents:** When playing with your kids, remember you can always use the Extreme rule, which has no minimum requirement for getting on the board. This can help keep the game fun and accessible for everyone.
