1000 Ways to Play: Did you know there are more than 1000 ways to play SKUNK’D?!? When Liz and I play, we’ll do silly things like: flip over the top three cards and those are the rules for the next game; or have everybody pick a card; or roll a die and that’s how many rules we use. You’ll never get bored and the game will become a remarkably different experience each time!

Invent New Rules: We’ve been inventing new rules for this game since the 1980’s. You can, too! Submit your ideas for new elective rules. In 2026, Hooked on Johnson Games will publish an expansion pack with fun and exciting new SKUNK’D Rule Cards — will YOUR rule idea be one of them??

SKUNK’D Cards

What are those funky labels on our cards? They are Rule Categories…

Rules range from Slightly Silly to Devoid of Reason. Among our elective rules, some are Slightly Silly, adding some fun and whimsy to your game while others are absolutely Devoid of Reason – adding explosive scoring opportunities, a shot at snatching victory from the paws of defeat or introducing sudden catastrophe! Value cards bump up the scoring while other cards introduce total Chaos! And like a skunk’s potent weapon, Spray cards can only be used once per game.

Up your Stink in Solo SKUNK’D

While we typically use the basic rules to play Solo SKUNK’D, to spice up the fun we suggest you try adding in any or all of these rules: Stripes+, Mega+, Slow Boat, Single Cinco & Pungent. That makes 32 different ways to play! So, if you find you’ve done so well that you can’t beat your top score anymore, change the rules and post a new top score in another category to chase after! PLUS:

In 2026 you’ll be able to download Solo SKUNK’D onto your phone!

PARENTS! SKUNK’D helps your kids build pattern recognition and critical thinking skills. Hint: When playing with younger children, try using the Extreme Rule. It allows players to keep rolling until they get SKUNK’D and still keep their score and put it on the board. DON’T tell the kids it’s an educational game; just play! It’ll keep young minds engaged AND everyone will have the opportunity to rack up some HUGE scores! THAT’S why we created the rule! Fringe benefit: Your kid will be laughing and socially engaged plus there is a statistically significant probability that your kid will become the next Einstein!
