12/05/2023 Update:
Thanks for continuing to provide incredible feedback! I’m sorry that we can’t respond to you individually (feedback is anonymous) but, I assure you, WE READ AND DISCUSS EVERY WORD! Catching errors, helping us make improvements to the game and, especially, helping us clarify rules — it’s all been very valuable. But don’t stop now — we’re looking for your FINAL WORD on SKUNK’D by December 15. For a short video on wrapping things up, CLICK HERE.
As a result of your input and our continuing brainstorming, I am AMAZED at how much the game has morphed from where we were three months ago!
The rules have been completely rewritten. The multi-player game rules are down to two pages and the solo version one. Take a look at the current state of the rules HERE.
We’ve also polished up our ‘SKUNK’D Etiquette,’ which helps with understanding SKUNK’D terms. You can find it with the rules.
The coolest thing is that SKUNK’D is now a dice AND card game! We’ve stripped the elective rules (which you found a bit overwhelming) out of the rulebook and, instead, created a deck of Skunk-themed cards, each with a fun graphic and description of a different rule, from which the designated rulemaker can choose (or not choose) to introduce more silliness into the game.
We’ve addressed the confusing ‘scoring/non-scoring dice’ issue with the Carbuncle (California) rules. We’ve changed the basic rules of SKUNK’D so that now a Single Carbuncle is worth 250, a Double Carbuncle is worth 500 and a Triple Carbuncle, better known as ‘Stripes,’ is still worth 1,000.
We’ve added one rule to the basic game — the Double Mega. We considered adding it as an elective rule but it makes more sense to just make it a standing rule. Whenever you get two 3-of-a-kinds in one roll, you get to double the value of your roll, hence the ‘Double Mega!’ It’s difficult to do so it warrants a scoring bonus.
Here’s a few more of the sample cards for illustration purposes. The number of cards and the images/text on each are subject to change. Keep on rolling and sharing your thoughts and ideas! Come Dec. 15, you get to chill and we get to go to work prepping for Kickstarter and making a game called SKUNK’D!
